Critical questions to inform African energy transition pathways
Abstract
Prof. dr. Sebastian Sterl works as energy analyst at the Directorate-General for Energy (DG Energy) of the European Commission in Brussels and part-time professor at VUB. The term “energy transitions” has a different meaning across countries. For instance, in Europe, it refers to decarbonisation and energy independence from Russia. In many countries in Africa, it refers to the needs for energy access and industrial development. In this lecture, we explore critical questions and data required to understand energy transition pathways on the African continent.
